Friendship is Forever

This month has been busy. Why would I expect anything less than busy around here? I'm so excited for opportunities to bless my friends and family and this month is exceptionally fun because my dear friend is having her 30th birthday bash this weekend and my other swell friend, Katie, is having a BABY and I get to decorate for her baby shower!

You know those people who just get you? It's not easy to find a friend with this "gift" (more like art form when trying to get my craziness!!). I believe God places those people in our lives specifically to bless us and have us bless them....Katie was one of the first friends I was prayerfully seeking (that sounds so mushy & strange!) and we met in our junior year of highschool. We both got sent to a private school-quite frankly because we were getting eaten alive in the public school system and our lives were going in a wrong direction. She sat next to me on her first day, and we immediately got each other. This was a super small school (20 graduates in my class) so meeting someone you really connect with was tough! Especially one who had a similar past and could share in your struggles.

We've been friends ever since and as I have married and started my family- at the young age of 19- she has watched me grow through it all and she and I would talk about who God had in mind for her...I saw how patient she was on the Lord to bless her with a family of her own, and now, she is married (Spring of this year!) and is expecting! Honeymoon baby to the DATE! Isn't God awesome?! I'm tearing up as I type this because I honestly couldn't depict a better image of God's undeniable grace for His children when we wait. She could have dated around, given up, or got herself in a bad situation- but she served the Lord and casted her cares & desires unto Him.

So this week I am honoring her not just for becoming a mother but because she is the sweetest, strongest, most passionate lover of Christ I have ever known and just like any one of us who struggle with a dark past or have traveled a tough road- we could have easily given up. But like Paul, she pressed on.

"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus"
Philippians 3:14

Katie, with all 3 of my kiddos, on her Wedding Day!
